Jump Cut Editors is thrilled to celebrate the Emmy win for for Outstanding Historical Documentary at the 46th News & Documentary Emmys for Tsunami: Race Against Time – with our own Livia Serpa playing a key role in the series’ success.
The four-part National Geographic documentary, directed by Emmy-winner Daniel Bogado (9/11: ONE DAY IN AMERICA) and produced by Blast Films, marks 20 years since the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Through first-hand survivor testimonies, expert insight and remarkable archival footage, the series offers a sweeping, deeply human account of the disaster across 14 countries.
Livia edited Episode 1, The Wave, and provided additional editing on Episode 3, Breaking News. Her work weaves unseen footage with powerful personal stories, crafting an emotional, gripping narrative that anchors the series’ impact.
We’re incredibly proud to see this exceptional project — and Livia’s outstanding editorial craft — recognised on the biggest stage. Huge congratulations to all those involved.
The series is available to stream on Disney+, Apple TV and Prime Video.
