Directors Simon+Ben, alongside creative directors James Crosby and Will Cotton of McCann London, have secured a prestigious D&AD award for their groundbreaking work on the ‘Beyond Xbox: Field Trips’ campaign, a first-of-its-kind educational initiative.
The immersive experience features a series of audio learning podcasts, available on Spotify, that children listen to whilst gaming.
Taking Viewers on a Virtual Journey
Jump Cut’s Simon Halsall once again teamed up with Simon+Ben, and was responsible for editing the launch film.
Their collaborative effort resulted in a dynamic and compelling mini-documentary. Featuring three different families in the UK who demonstrate their experiences with the audio and visual learning journeys while gaming. It includes testimonials from young gamers alongside expert opinions on the advantages of gaming and ‘learning through play.’
Simon+Ben’s directorial expertise, combined with James and Will’s creative vision, along with Simon’s meticulous editing, was pivotal in crafting a narrative that was both engaging and visually spectacular, seamlessly blending reality with the digital world, through stunning landscapes and interactive gameplay.
A ground-breaking partnership with UKIE meant the ‘Field Trips’ were brought into the classroom, enabling over 200,000 pupils to engage.
We were delighted to have been involved in such a purpose led campaign with a real impact, that not only showcased the capabilities of Xbox but also demonstrated the power of creative storytelling, in modern advertising.
Every year, D&AD Awards gathers and promotes the best commercial creative work in design, advertising, craft and production, attracting participation from creative companies, agencies, studios, brands and individuals in more than 75 countries.
