Jump Cut Editors are delighted to return for our fifth instalment of the hit Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The project continues our long-running collaboration on one of television’s most ambitious sports documentary series.
Season 8 follows a Formula 1 year packed with standout moments and major storylines across the 2025 campaign. These include Lando Norris’ dramatic maiden World Championship, with intense rivalries unfolding across the grid. The paddock also buzzes with a host of sub-plots, speculation and seismic off-track developments. From Lewis Hamilton’s headline-making move to Ferrari to ongoing drama within the Red Bull camp, which led to Team Principal Christian Horner’s shock exit.
Together, the high-stakes racing and behind-the-scenes tension made for compelling storytelling throughout the season.
Alex Young brought his editorial expertise to the project, working in the edit suite over several months. He edited Episode 3, ‘The Number 1 Problem‘ and provided additional editing on Episode 1, as well as crafting the series super-tease.
Episode 3 focuses on Lando Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri in their battle for supremacy at McLaren as they both chase the title. Set against the team’s philosophy of running two number-one drivers, the episode explores the tension that creates – both on track and behind the scenes. Alex captures the intensity of life in Formula 1 and the psychological warfare that defines a championship fight.
