Jump Cut Editors are thrilled to have completed the offline edit of Netflix’s brand new eight part fly-on-the-wall documentary series ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die.’
Production Company Fulwell 73 (‘I am Bolt,’ ‘The Class of ’92,’ L’ate Late Show,’ ‘Carpool Karaoke‘) were granted exclusive behind the scenes access throughout the 2017-18 campaign, capturing the drama and heartbreak that the club experienced as the Black Cats unceremoniously suffered a second consecutive relegation, dropping to the third tier of English football for only the second time in their entire history.
Jump Cut’s Andrea Cuadrado cut three of the eight episodes, charting the rare highs and familiar lows of SAFC’s season. At its heart she was responsible for crafting the human stories told through the eyes of the management, players and most importantly Sunderland’s incredible fans and their unfailing passion for their beloved football club.
Series Producer Richard Cooke, said of Andrea “The project was ambitious in scale and the demands on the edits was immense. Andrea quickly became an integral part of the team; she demonstrated considerable patience and a quick understanding of how to use highly challenging material. She is strong on story, doesn’t jump straight into the narrative; instead she carefully thinks things through and crafts stories that are well paced and engaging. She really cares, works incredibly hard and is a lovely person to have on the team.”
Executive Producer of the series Leo Pearlman said: “Sunderland Till I Die is a deeply personal series for us at Fulwell – we named our company after the club, it’s where our family is from, and we are still and will always be passionate fans of Sunderland Football Club.
“It was always a dream to follow our club through the highs and lows of a season and although this past year didn’t give us the success we all craved, we do believe through this story we’ve been able to show the unique relationship every fan has with the club they love and follow, no matter what the circumstances.”
We at Jump Cut are privileged to have contributed on such a personal project for Fulwell 73.
The documentary following Sunderland’s disastrous Championship campaign last season will be released on Netflix on December 14th 2018.
