Whisper Films recently hired Alex Holden for the offline and online edit of a five-part sports documentary series ‘Flame Catchers’ for The Olympic Channel.
The series takes a look back at the legacy of hosting the Olympic Games from the perspective of the young lives, spectators and athletes impacted most. It tells the stories of how the Olympic Games have created defining moments of a nation’s sporting culture and inspired the next generation.
Each film focused on the previous 5 host nations. Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
With an extremely tight deadline of just four days to cut each 30 minute episode, Alex was channelling his inner Olympian spirit, with gold medal speed cutting skills!
He was responsible in total for the offline of 2 x films (London 2012 & Athens 2004) as well as the online of all 5 x films, which included the grade and audio mix. All films were delivered to strict broadcast standards, due for future worldwide transmission.
You can watch London 2012 above featuring two of Team GB’s Olympic gold medal winners; canoeist Etienne Stott, heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and meet a teenager aiming to emulate her idol.
